Carrier Edition

Carrier Edition is the commercial version of Funambol for service providers and organizations that want the benefits of Funambol’s commercial release.

Funambol Carrier Edition differs from Funambol Community Edition in four primary ways:

Carrier Edition includes a superset of functionality that makes it suitable for mass deployment. For example, it includes a portal that automates over-the-air configuration of mobile devices.
Carrier Edition is certified on commercial infrastructure such as commercial RDBMSs that enable it to be deployed in massively scalable and high availability environments.
Carrier Edition is covered by a commercial license agreement that enables customers to maintain the privacy of their code.
Carrier Edition is used as part of Funambol professional service engagements and supported by Funambol.

Licensing and Support

Funambol Carrier Edition is offered under a commercial license that enables customers to adapt the software to their infrastructure and make changes in the code without needing to share their changes. In addition, source code for some key components of Carrier Edition, such as the portal, are available only to Carrier Edition customers and are not open source.
