Hardware and Software Requirements

The following requirements apply to the Community Edition "bundle" that can be downloaded and used for PIM sync and push email. If you are installing just the Funambol DS server, lesser requirements apply. For details, please refer to the Funambol documentation.

Note that the Funambol bundle includes the Funambol DS Server, administration tool and software accessories for use in a "test drive" situation. It also includes these components that are installed when the bundle is installed:

Apache Tomcat 5.5 (or later)
Java Runtime Environment, 1.5.x (or later)
Hypersonic (JDBC-compliant) database

If installing on Windows, the requirements are:

Pentium 4 CPU 1.8GHz
Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional
200MB free disk space
768MB RAM

If installing on Linux, the requirements are:

Pentium 4 CPU 1.8GHz
No Linux version or publisher restrictions, at present
200MB free disk space
512MB RAM

Per User Capacity Planning:

1.5MB disk space per user allows for 1,000 contacts and 1,000 calendar events

Device/client requirements for synchronization of contacts, calendar, tasks, notes

SyncML 1.1 or 1.2 mobile phones from manufacturers such as Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson
Windows Mobile 5 PocketPC or Smartphone devices
Apple iPod and iPod nano
Microsoft Outlook 2003

Windows Mobile 5 PocketPC or Smartphone devices
MIDP 2.0 Java mobile phones from manufacturers such as Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson
