BARCELONA, Spain, February 14, 2006 — Funambol, the mobile open source software company, today announced that ePLDT — a wholly owned subsidiary of the Philippines’ largest carrier, PLDT — has chosen its mobile open source platform to deliver Personal Information Management (PIM), mobile email, and other data synchronization and management functions to its customers. PLDT is the largest carrier in the Philippines, which represents the biggest SMS market in the world.

Mobile email is expected to be the next killer app with mobile operator revenues from enterprise email and PIM alone expected to surpass $600 million by 2009, according to Research and Markets.
